2021 iPhones could use Apple’s own modems
We have heard rumors previously that Apple ate designing their own modems for future iPhones, according to a recent report, these could be introduced with the 2021 iPhones.
The news comes in a report from the Information who have revealed that Apple are hiring engineers for their wireless architecture team.
Apple are not expected to launch a 5G iPhone in 2019, the company is expected to launch a 5G handsets in 2020 and their 2021 iPhones could come with their own modems built in.
The company is currently in the middle of various court cases with Qualcomm who previously supplied modems for Apple iPhones, although this is now done by Intel. It will be interesting to see if Apple, is capable of developing its own modem for future iPhones.
